I started tying jigs as therapy to deal with some serious health issues. The humble beginning of Thumpers Jigs was nothing more than a single Jig vice and a few evenings after dialysis. This is what led to the creation of Thumper Jigs.
By the end of 2016 we moved into our new building with a 40-foot tack room for tying jigs and an office for Pam.
Our jigs come in three weights 1/8, 1/16 and 1/24. They are all poured, colored and tied in house here in Eastern Missouri. We use red sickle hooks for all our jigs. It’s one of the finest hooks available. We use a fabric called crystal flash. It absorbs and reflects light more than anything currently available.
These jigs have tremendous durability. Many of the plastics on today’s market are prone to tearing or splitting. After catching a few fish, the tube must be replaced. “Thumpers” don’t do that and are extremely durable. With the sickle hook, if you stick it, you “own it”.
We are constantly field testing and improving this product. We are searching for new colors, new styles and new techniques. Also, custom jigs are poured and tied upon request.
So do yourself a favor and tie on a thumper, plant your feet solid in the boat and hang on tight cause you’re fixing to get thumped. Remember, “If you’re not fishing a Thumper, son, you’re just out for a boat ride".
